Instructional Experience Georgia College and State University EDIT 6259 - Technical Processing of Library Media Materials (3 hrs.). Prepares media specialists for cataloging materials in machine-readable (MARC) record format for automated catalogs. The student learns the Dewey Decimal System for classifying all types of materials, the Sears subject headings for categorizing materials, and MARC software for creating records in machine-readable (MARC) format. Syllabus. The University of Georgia EDIT 7320 – Research in School Media Services. (3 hrs.). The identification of contemporary problems in the field of school media services and instructional technology around which to design appropriate research studies. Dr. Mary Ann Fitzgerald, lead instructor. EDIT 6400 – Emerging Approaches in Teaching, Learning, & Technology. (6 iterations) (3 Credit hours). Teaching, learning, technology integration, and design to support new learning strategies in the classroom. Describes the theoretical and research foundations of these approaches, and demonstrates varied uses of technology. Dr. Michael Orey, lead instructor. EDIT 6340 – Information Services in School Media Programs. (3 hrs.). Analyzes the criteria for planning, selecting, using, and evaluating a variety of electronic and print resources for information services in schools. Dr. Mary Ann Fitzgerald, lead instructor. EDIT 6300 – Administration of Media Programs. (3 hrs.). Discusses the organizational management of resources, services, functions, and administration of the school media program. Students develop a vision and plan for improving collections, technical services, and promotion activities. Provides broad view of the management and administrative functions of a school media center and program. Dr. Mary Ann Fitzgerald, lead instructor. EDIT 6150 – Introduction to Computer-based Education. (3 hrs.). The computer and its educational applications. Computer-based education in the areas of instruction, text and data processing, multimedia, and telecommunications. Philosophical perspectives on the role of computer technology in education. Dr. Mary Ann Fitzgerald, lead instructor. EDIT 5500 – Technology Enhanced Learning Environments. (3 hrs.). Developed and taught. Facilitates the exploration of the design and creation of technology-enhanced learning environments through field based apprenticeship. Examines the roles of current and emerging technologies in the international classroom. *A synchronous and asynchronous online course for dispersed international student groups. Gainesville State College CISM 1502 – Introduction to Information Technologies. (3 hrs.). Developed and taught. Introduction to useful computer applications and current technological and ethical issues. Reflecting developing information technology advances, new applications are explored in an applied project for authentic use of information tools. RSCH 1502 - Research Strategies and Technologies. (2 hrs.). Developed and taught. Investigates modern information structures; acquaints students with various types of resource materials; familiarizes them with key tools; and assists them in learning to acquire, evaluate, organize and present data collected via a variety of media. The knowledge and skills gained in this course create a foundation for academic success and lifelong learning.
